Southeast Fresno, also known as South Growth area, is a great place to live for first time home buyers. The neighborhood is established but not old, with many of the residences having been built between 1970 to 1999.
Things to Do
There are a lot of fun things you can do in the Southeast Fresno area such as taking your kids to Sunnyside Park where kids soccer leagues take place, Sunnyside Country Club where you can enjoy a game of golf, as well as many fresh fruit markets to shop at. Just up Clovis Avenue there is the Sierra Vista Mall where you can go see a movie for $5 on Tuesdays, as well as get your shopping done while eating at one of the many places you have to choose from. The Big Fresno Fair is a short drive from Southeast Fresno where there are monthly events that take place. A few of the upcoming events include the Fresno County Young Authors’ Faire, the Fresno Spring Fair, and the Kerman Cart Club GoKart Racing.
Education
A small part of the Southeast Fresno neighborhood is in the boundary to attend Clovis East High School. Clovis Unified District is one of the top districts in California. While only part of the neighborhood is part of Clovis Unified School District, the average test scores are still 14 percent higher than the California average and 18 percent higher than Fresno’s average.
Family Friendly
Eighteen percent of the people living in the Southeast Fresno area are under the age of 5, and 22 percent range from ages 5 to 17. A number of people are currently raising their families in this area making it a great place to put down some roots.
Housing
The median home price at $207,250 is 46 percent lower than Fresno’s average making it easier to save up for a down payment. Since the average rent cost is 9 percent higher than Fresno’s average, it is smarter to buy in this area. Eighty-five percent of the people in this area are homeowners, while only 15 percent rent.
