If you’re thinking of selling and want to sell your home for more, we’ve got a few tips that may help.
Of course, nothing beats personal suggestions based on your specific home, and we encourage you to speak with a real estate professional for personalized help. If you’d like to talk to us, we’d be happy to meet you and see how we can help.
But in general, here are some things to consider …
It’s almost become cliché, but for good reason. Curb appeal provides someone their very first impression of your home … so make that first impression a good one.
Keep your lawn mowed, hedges trimmed, trees cleaned up and healthy looking. Plant flowers to add beauty and interest.
Wash the windows and remove spider webs around your home’s exterior … especially the front porch and around the front door where your potential buyers will be entering your home.
Also, keep the driveway and sidewalks swept and neat.
Your house and yard should be the cleanest on the block while you’re selling.
Once a potential buyer walks inside, they should have just as good of an impression as they did from the curb.
So do a deep and thorough cleaning, and then keep it clean.
De-clutter and de-personalize your space. Let them imagine the rooms with their stuff in them.
This doesn’t mean remove all the furniture, but be sure there’s lots of open space.
You want as many people as possible to find your home attractive, so that means keeping things as neutral as possible. You may want to repaint if you have rooms that have bright, bold colors on the walls.
Make sure everything works in your home, because the potential buyer may check. Replace any burnt-out light bulbs. Make sure the garbage disposal, kitchen appliances, faucets, toilets, garage doors, etc. all are in working order.
You want your potential buyer to feel like they can move right in.
Work with a Local Expert
A local real estate expert who knows the neighborhoods and has a finger on the pulse of the community will be able to price your home competitively and appropriately. Setting the right listing price is key in getting as many people as possible to take an interest and want to come see your home.
Because if they don’t come, it doesn’t matter how good your curb appeal or your interior appeal is. It won’t matter that everything works and the home is move-in ready.
To sell your home for more, you have to get people to look at it in the first place. In addition to the listing price, you have to market it and attract attention.
A local expert will know the best ways to do that.
We’re happy to have a conversation with you about the current value of your home and what you can do to sell your home for more. Send us a message or call us at 559-490-0207 today.
